Dancing Baby
My parents called Saturday afternoon and asked if they could come by to see Reives for a few minutes. (I think they were having withdrawals.) Well, Little R was certainly showing off for his Grammie and Grandaddy. One of his newest things is dancing. I mean this boy puts his whole body and head into it. His favorite song to dance to is the ABC song. Here is a sneak peak of his performance on Saturday:

8 Months!!!
On Wednesday, Little R turned 8 months old! I cannot believe it.....2/3 of a year already! He is getting cuter and cuter everyday, and it is amazing to watch him grow, learn, and discover new things. It is so sweet now when he lifts up his arms to be picked up or tries to crawl into your your lap when you are playing with him on the floor. It is also adorable to watch him "dance." He LOVES music, especially the "ABC" song. Whenever you sing it to him or he hears it played from one of his toys, he bounces up and down to the music with the biggest grin on his face. It is the cutest thing ever!!!! I'll have to catch it on video soon! I guess I would say that Little R is now crawling. He definitely gets up on his hands and knees (sometimes feet) and gets to where he wants to go. He is interested in checking everything out, and I definitely cannot leave him unattended for very long anymore. The days of leaving him "loose" in the room while I clean the bathrooms are over. He still loves his jumperoo and exercauser, and believe it or not, two days ago he swang in his swing for about 45 minutes and loved it. He loves being outside, and he loves Chip. Although, I am not sure if Chip knows what to think now that the little guy is mobile.
We are currently taking a swim class at Candler Hospital with about twelve other moms and babies. It is so funny to watch all of the babies in the water. Little R loves being in the pool and splashes around like crazy! Earlier this week, I took him to our neighborhood pool, which was freezing. He was not too sure about the freezing water temperatures, and neither was I. We'll try again soon!
Here are some other things he is doing now:
-eating alot of baby food (hates avacodoes, loves EVERYTHING else!)
-pulling up in the bathtub, on people, on other babies, (you get the picture)
-swinging in the swings at the neighborhood park
-pulling up grass in the backyard (one of his favorite pastimes)
-feeling and scratching everything to see what kind of texture it has
-waking up very early in the morning around 6 to sit up and talk and play in his crib for a while...then going back to sleep for a little bit
-still talking, but only "AHHHH" and "EEHHH" (no consonants yet)
-eating puffs and Mum Mums...I am trying to get him to learn to pick up food and put it in his mouth, but he would rather play with it
-looking cute and being a very happy baby!
Here are some pictures I took of him on his 8 month birthday. It was VERY hard to get him to sit still and not try to fall face first out of the chair!!!

Mother's Day
Mother's Day took on a whole new meaning for me this year :) Sometimes, I still find it hard to believe that I am a mother. I mean in church on Sunday, when they asked all of the mothers to stand, I had to think for a minute before I stood up. Being a mother is one of the greatest blessings God has ever given me. After trying to have a baby for almost a year, I truly realize what a precious gift from God my son is. There is not a day that goes by that I do not thank the Lord for this amazing gift! Being a mother has taught me so many things already in these past eight months. I have learned how to change a baby boy's diaper without getting "squirted,"how to make baby food, how to sing songs to distract a baby in the car and on the changing table, and how to get a baby to sleep by placing 8 pacis in the crib. However, I have also learned some greater lessons...how to put my own needs/wants aside to take care of my little one, how parenting is truly a partnership, and how the time that I spend learning about God's love really does affect how I love my husband and son!
Little R was very sweet to me on my 1st Mother's Day! He got me a dozen pink roses, a super sweet card, some of my favorite candy, and a mirror for our bathroom that we have recently updated. (I had mentioned a mirror that I liked to Little R and Trey one day, and Trey later told me that Little R whispered to him that he wanted to get that mirror plus the flowers for me for Mother's Day!)
Being a mother has made me appreciate my mother so much more. I realize now the love, sacrifice, sleepless nights, and busy days that she endured for my sister and I. I realize now all of the tears (and bottoms...hehe) that she wiped, the kisses she gave, and the songs she sang. She is an amazing woman, and I truly admire her wisdom and compassion for others. I am so thankful that I live close enough to see her enough, and that she is one of my best friends. We love you, Mama!!!!

Being a mother to a son has also made me appreciate my mother in law, Patti, who is a mother to 3 boys. I am also thankful that I live close enough to see her often, too. Patti did such a great job raising my hubby, and she is one of the most generous people I know. I am thankful to have her to give me "boy advice" along the way. We love you, Patti!!!

A Royal Wedding
I was so excited to attend The Royal Wedding last weekend. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The reception was a blast, and the prince and princess were truly a stunning couple:
I was so blessed to stand by my sister's side as she pledged her life to a wonderful man. I could not have hand picked a more perfect guy for her. The whole weekend was a blast. Here is a recap of the weekend:
Thursday night, we (family who was in town plus bridesmaids) went out to dinner at Bella's and then downtown to Lulu's chocolate bar.
We had to make a quick stop by the hotel where my aunts were staying for Laura to get her garter and wedding gift. My Aunt Mary made Laura's garter.
My dad's three sisters (Aunt Chris, Aunt Mary, and Aunt Peggy) gave Laura an original oil painting of an angel.
On Friday, my grandmother (Nana) and my mom's sister (Ann Marie) gave Laura the bridesmaid's luncheon at The Savannah Golf Club. Everything was beautiful, and the food was delicious. Here are some pictures:

Friday night after the rehearsal, we all headed out to Wesley Gardens for the rehearsal dinner. The menu was baked chicken, pork chops, mac and cheese, squash casserole, green beans, rolls, and banana pudding. YUMMY! We watched a slideshow of Laura and Josh and listened to a few toasts!

April Favorites
I cannot believe it is already May! Where did April go??? My favorite thing about April was my sister's wedding on April 30th (more to come on that!) But, here are my other 5 favorites from this past month:
1. Broughton and Bull
Trey and I were finally able to go out for a fun date night downtown. We had been trying for a few months, but each time we made plans, one of us wasn't feeling well. Trey planned the date, and he took me to Broughton and Bull. For those of you Savannahians, it is located where the old Il Pasticcio was on the corner of, you guessed it, Broughton and Bull Streets. It has a fun atmosphere, is reasonably priced, and has great views so you can people watch. We sat right by one of the huge windows and enjoyed watching all of the tourists and high schoolers dressed up for prom walk by. We ended our evening by walking around downtown and then eating frozen yogurt in Ellis Square.
2. Spoken From the Heart by Laura Bush
I have always liked Laura Bush. She is former teacher and made early literacy her platform while she was The First Lady. I always admired her class and poise and the way she conducted herself while in the country's spotlight. I also loved the fact that she supported her husband 100%, even when she disagreed with some of his decisions. I have been wanting to read her autobiography for some time, and so I finally checked it out from the public library. I am not finished with it yet, and I am just getting to the part where her family moves into the White House. So far, I have loved learning about the early part of her life, and I cannot wait to finish it!
3. Johnny Jump Up
This is one of Little R's favorite things right now. He loves playing in his Johnny Jump Up! He has always liked to stand up, and now he can spin and bounce up and down while he stands. He is having a blast!!! It also keeps him entertained for a while so I can get a few things done around the house :)
4. Golden Nails
My mom, Laura, and I all had manicures and pedicures the week before Laura's wedding. None of us get manicures and pedicures that often, and we were not sure of the best place to go. A friend of mine suggested Golden Nails in the Medical Arts shopping center. It was probably the best manicure and pedicure that I have ever had! The massage chairs were so comfortable and the manicure and pedicure even came with a shoulder and head massage. I would definitely recommend this place!!!

5. Amazing Grace body spritz by Philosophy
My mother in law gave me this body spritz a few years ago. I used it off and on, but I just discovered it again the other day. I LOVE it! It is not as heavy as perfume, which I cannot really wear because it makes me sneeze. But, it is strong enough that it gives off a wonderful scent. It is a floral smell that reminds me a little bit of Bath and Body Work's Honeysuckle collection. I have not tried any of the other products in the Amazing Grace collection, but I may have to look into that :) I know that Ulta sells Philosophy products, but I am not sure where else to find them.
