"Bible"

Trey sent me a text last night, while I was helping with the youth group at our church.  It said, "R just said "Bible" as clear as I would!"  Since the Bible is the most important book that our son will ever encounter or read, I am so thankful that He already knows what one is and how to say it.  What a blessing!!!

16 Months

It is still hard to believe that Little R is 16 months old!  I feel like he has really started to grow taller and slim down some.  He is looking more and more like a little boy!  It is also hard to believe that in about 2 months or so, Little R is going to be a big brother.  He still seems like such a baby himself in so many ways.  This past month has been a huge milestone in Little R's vocabulary.  He has picked up some new words, and he is trying to copy everything we say.  It is amazing how much he understands, and I am always shocked when he knows objects that I refer to when I have never taught him those objects.  They learn SO MUCH through observation!

Things going on right now:
-favorite words: banana "anana", outside "soutside", no no "na na" (am currently trying to discourage him from saying this to me!), potty "teetee", and cheerios "oos."  It is so cute watching him try to say new words.
-he loves making animal sounds for the different animals that we name
-has gotten his two, top 1 year molars
-favorite foods: blueberries, strawberries, cheese, yogurt
-drinks no milk :(  This little guy sure has a stubborn streak.  About 2 weeks ago, Little R started refusing his bottles.  He has always refused milk from a sippy cup, so basically he was refusing all milk.  So, I figured that if I only offered him milk in his sippy cup, that he would eventually get thirsty enough and drink it.  Oh, no!  This little guy went 2 1/2 days without drinking ANYTHING!  I made sure he was having wet diapers and getting hydrated from his food, but we could not get him to drink any milk :(  So, he only drinks water, and I give him alot of high calcium foods.  I guess we'll try again later.
-Stranger anxiety!  Little R has become very shy around people he does not know lately.  This especially happens around men but also some women.  When strangers come up to talk to him, he hides behind our leg, or buries his head in our shoulder.  If they try to give him "fives" he shakes his head and says "na na." (nono!)
-Does the sign language sign for Jesus...so sweet :)
-Still loves his baths, airplanes, eating, and playing outside.

He has also been having some fun with sidewalk chalk recently.  Earlier this week, when I kept Cali (Little R's friend that I keep one day each week), I caught some sidewalk chalk action:

30 Weeks

30 weeks down....10 to go!!!  Crunch time!  We are in the process of cleaning out our guest room so that we can move Reives into it.  It will become his new "big boy" room, even though he'll still be in a crib.  We have already cleaned out the guest closet, and are now working on clearing out the room.  Our project has been put on hold as we are waiting to see if Walmart will get a bookshelf that we want to order back in stock.  We have one bookshelf that we love, and we want another one to match to move into our bonus room.  However, it is out of stock, and we are holding off to see if they get more.  I have searched for this bookshelf everywhere online, but it seems there are none left anywhere :(  Needless to say, the books may have to be temporarily put into the attic until we figure out what to do.

I have 80% decided on some bedding for the new baby.  It has been hard to find something that I love that is different from Little R's nursery and colors.  I seem to be drawn to boats/fish/etc. and the same colors that are in Little R's bedding.  I think I have found a fun "jungle theme" bedding that I am considering.  I hope to nail it down and order it by the end of the week.

We still have no name for Baby #2.  One of the names will definitely be a family name, but we are still not sure which one.  We have borrowed a baby name book from a friend, and we are separately going through and writing down any names that we would consider.  Then, we'll compare our lists to see if any match up.  It is actually kind of fun!!  There are some strange names out there!

I can definitely tell that I am in the 3rd trimester.  It seems that I am hungry all of the time, and my back constantly hurts.  I am still sleeping pretty well most nights, but I always wake up in the morning with a very sore back :(  Pre-natal massage here I come!!!  Here is a 30-week picture.  I am not sure where this baby is going to fit as it more than doubles in size over the next 10 weeks, but I guess he'll fit in there somewhere :)

Yard Work

We sure are glad that Little R is going to enjoy helping us with the yard work from now on!  He loves to follow us Daddy around the yard while we he works in the yard :)  It is to funny to us how much he has learned just from observing.  Yesterday, for instance, Trey got out the watering can.  Little R immediately grabbed it, walked over to some plants, and acted like he was watering them.  It was too cute.  A few minutes later, we found Little R over by the outside water faucet trying to turn it on and fill up the watering can!  Here are some pictures of Reives helping us Daddy in the yard this weekend...

Here are some sweet pictures from today after church while Little R was eating his lunch.  He moved up into his new Sunday School class today.  I was afraid he was going to cry and get upset, but he did great.  When we first walked up, he kept pointing at his old class, which he LOVED!  I hope he enjoys the new class just as much or more!

This Week...

This week, Little R has been working on a really hard project.....getting his one year molars.  One of the top molars is through, and I think the other top molar isn't too far behind.  Poor little thing :(  He just hasn't been quite himself, but it is nothing that a paci, dose of tylenol, and a cowboy hat can't make feel a little bit better!

28 Weeks...

Today, I am actually 29 weeks, but we took this picture about a week ago.  So, I'll make this a "28 week" post :)  I am officially in the 3rd trimester!  My stomach sure is growing and is bringing the dreaded back ache along with it.  When I was around 28 weeks pregnant with Reives, I started to have this pain in my upper right back.  It isn't a dull ache or soreness, but it is a somewhat sharp pain in this one concentrated spot.  It pretty much never goes away and it is worst when I am lying down or in a "relaxed" sitting position.  It actually feels the best when I am sitting in a straight back chair or standing.  Thankfully, this pain went away after Reives was born.  Well, the pain is back and started right around 27 weeks this time.  This along with my lower back pain from carrying an almost 27 pound toddler around all day, makes for one big, constant back ache.  It is well worth it, but it definitely is not the most "comfortable" time of pregnancy.  My other main pregnancy symptom is restless legs.  It usually starts up around 8:00 at night.  Taking a warm bath seems to help some, but it is difficult for me to sit still and relax in the evenings :(  Thankfully, once I get in bed, it usually goes away:)  Ok...enough about the woes of pregnancy!!!

We are so excited about our baby boy that is to arrive in less than 3 months!!!  We have started to clean out our guest room so that Reives can move into his new room!  There is alot to do in the next coming months, but it is so much fun preparing for a new baby.  Reives received a baby doll from his "Nana" (great grandmother) for Christmas, and he is pretty interested in it.  The baby cries and makes noises when you push it's tummy.  We tell Reives to love the baby, and he will hug it up close to his face.  Then, he usually throws it on the ground and moves on to other things :)  He has no idea what is coming!

On a side note, Little R has had a rough week.  He came down with a weird rash and 3 days of fever last week.  (I still thing this is a reaction to his MMR shot, but I guess we'll never know for sure.)  Now, I am pretty sure he is cutting his top two canines and has seems just plain miserable for a couple of days.  Tylenol helps some, but he is still pretty uncomfortable.  The poor little guy can't catch a break!  I hope these teeth break through soon...I feel so bad for him :(

Christmas 2011

It is hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone.  I always feel that as soon as we put up our Christmas decorations that it is time to take them down again.  We finally took our Christmas tree and decorations down today, and I am not sure what Little R thinks.  He keeps pointing to the spot where the Christmas tree was, and he is walking around saying "dee" for "deer" and looking for the reindeer that we had displayed in several different places.  No worries for now, though....the Christmas tree is still in the backyard!!!  Little R gets excited and runs to it when we go outside :)

We had a wonderful Christmas this year.  Reives did not care about opening a single present, but he loved being in the midst of everything.  Even though he had a cold, he had a wonderful (and very busy) Christmas day.  We started out Christmas morning with The Cleveland family, went to the Ernst family for Christmas lunch, and then ended the day with an afternoon of gifts and dinner with the Glendye family.  Little R has enjoyed playing with his many new toys that he received for Christmas this year!!!  Here are some pictures from our Christmas:
