It is hard to believe our little Brooks just had his 1/2 birthday! Time sure is flying with him. Brooks is such a laid back, easy baby! He loves to watch his older brother, play in his exersaucer and play on his floor mat. He is rolling in both directions now, and he is sitting up pretty well on his own. He still falls after a bit, but everyday he is doing better. Brooks is also starting to scoot a little bit. He scoots backwards and in circles. He can push his chest up all of the way, so I suspect that pushing up on his knees will come next. Brooks got his first tooth 3 days after his 6 month birthday. He is cooing a good bit, and he still loves to make his animal
At his 6 month checkup, he weight 16 lbs 15 oz. In the past two months, he has gained 5 pounds and is now in the 34% for weight. He is in the 37% for height. As many of you know, Brooks was born with a congenital cataract. Basically, the cataract was formed when a piece of tissue got stuck when the lens and iris were separating during his development. We went for a check up to the eye doctor two weeks ago, only to discover that this piece of tissue has now broken apart. Apparently, this is a very good thing. The cataract (which is smaller than a pencil tip) will always be there, but it shouldn't pose any problems. Brooks is also now wearing some special orthopedic shoes to correct his metatarsus adductus (fancy term for his toes curving inward.) He doesn't mind his shoes at all. He only has to wear them while he is awake.
Brooks has also started baby food. He has had bananas, apples, pears, plums, peaches, peas, green beans, carrots, and sweet potatoes. He loves all of them except for the peas, which he tolerates. He is a great eater just like his brother. Brooks is sleeping from about 7:30 at night to anywhere from 6:30-7:30 in the morning. Occasionally, I have to go in and stick the paci in his mouth in the middle of the night, but we are trying to get him to go back to sleep on his own. Alot of times, he can find the paci himself. Brooks takes 2 or 3 naps a day, depending on what all we have to do that day. He is very flexible (thank goodness)!!

Boy oh boy! We have a 2 year old! I seriously cannot believe it! It is amazing the changes that take place in just 2 short years:

Reives is a typical two year old. He has many "demands," expects everything "right now," has his own "agenda," and he has his very own way of doing things. But, he also has lots of hugs, kisses, laughs, and extra sweet moments, too. He is learning new words everyday! I love watching him learn new words and phrases. He gets so excited about things, and one of my favorite phrases that he says is, "Oh, WOW!" This boy loves to dance and sing. He constantly asks for "songs" in the car. He also loves trucks, tractors, and trains. He talks about his "choo choos" all of the time, and he loves to look at his choo choo books. Reives is still a tremendous eater. Most of his meltdowns and tantrums revolve around food. He would seriously eat all day long if I would let him. He eats a huge variety of foods, and even eats things like okra, collar greens, and spinach leaves that we tear up for him. Reives can count to ten, but if you ever ask him to name how many objects there are, he will always answer "two." To him, when there is more than on of something, that means there is "two" (even if there are 100 of them.) I also think you would like to know that Mama, Daddy, and Brooks are also two years old now!
This little guy is a bundle of energy. He loves playing outside with balls, and he loves to shoot hoops in his basketball goal. He has gotten into kicking his soccer ball around lately, too. Swinging is another favorite pastime of Little R's. However, he "demands" that Mama sing to him while he is swinging. His favorites are "Rock a Bye (Brooks and Reives) Baby," "Old McDonald," "Do a Dear," and "This Little Light of Mine." Reives is a pro at saying the blessing before meals, and he is not afraid to call you out if you forget.
Reives is a super sweet big brother! He constantly kisses Brooks, and wants to see Brooks as soon as he wakes up in the morning. He will run into Brooks's room, screaming "Baboo!" He then climbs up and looks into Brooks's crib.....like this:
I hope they will always love each other this much! As you can see, Reives still uses his pacis. He wishes he could have them all of the time, but I only let him have them for sleeping. He is very attached to them, and I dread the day I have to take them away. Since he only uses them for sleeping, I am in no hurry! We just love our big boy so much! He keeps us laughing and brings us so much joy! There are many challenging times with a two year old around, but we just keep praying for God's guidance as we seek to raise him into the boy God has created him to be!
